Giggling Squid Guildford - A fantastic children's menu!

We love to eat out as a family, so when we discovered that Giggling Squid had a children's menu we couldn't wait to try it out! We went along to the Giggling Squid in Guildford, with a toddler in tow, and wanted to share our experience with you.

Location

Conveniently located just off the High Street in Guildford, Giggling Squid is a smart, elegant restaurant which you would be forgiven for thinking wasn’t child friendly. However, on arrival our toddler was immediately presented with colouring pencils and an activity sheet, which kept him occupied whilst we looked through the menu. High chairs are available for little diners.

Food

We’re big fans of Thai food so we were spoilt for choice, and the fact that they cater for all dietary requirements including vegan (take a look at their Veganuary menu currently on offer) and gluten free means that everyone will be happy. The best part though has got to be the children’s menu.

Children's Menu

Called ‘Little Tapas for Little People’, you won’t find any chips on this menu but small versions of the grown-ups menu. For £5.99 kids can mix and match two small plates from a selection which includes spring rolls, pork dumplings, chicken satay, pad Thai noodles, chicken fried rice, mild massaman curry and pork skewers. Plus free plain or sticky rice as well.

We ordered the pad Thai and chicken fried rice for our toddler. The portion sizes were very generous, and 2 plates was more than enough so you get good value for money.

Visiting with little ones

Just a word of caution if you’re taking small children with you, it’s not the biggest of restaurants so if you have a pushchair or need extra space I would suggest calling in advance. The staff are very friendly and will be happy to accommodate you, but it does get busy.

Verdict

Giggling Squid really does gives you the best of both worlds - a sophisticated restaurant that is family friendly, and with a great children’s menu too. Thank you Giggling Squid - we can’t wait to go back and try some more of the menu!
