Head to the Electric Theatre for a community lantern parade this November.

Saturday 21st November, 2pm - 7pm (the parade leaves the Electric Theatre at 4.30pm)

Cost: Free

Supported by the National Lottery Community Fund and ACM – The Academy of Contemporary Music, the parade will bring music and willow lanterns to the town centre and everyone is invited to join the carnival of woodland animals.

Jennie Surmeli from the Electric Theatre says “We are delighted to have secured lottery funding with Lockwood Artists group to deliver lantern making workshops with schools and community organisations across town, to make beautiful animal creations to be carried through the high street by families, children and members of the public in a real community spectacle – we hopewith local support to make this an annual event for Guildford and we encourage everyone to join us”.

Lantern workshops will take place at the Electric Theatre, The Tunsgate Centre and the library throughout October and November and local people are encouraged to make a willow and tissue paper lantern with artists and join the parade, which will feature ACM’s in-house Samba band, food and craft stalls.

Local Guildford artists have received training from lantern experts Same Sky, who deliver the iconic annual Burning the Clocks lantern festival in Brighton.
