Guildford Model Engineering Society Open Day

Next dates

Sorry, there are no future dates available

Our regular open days at Stoke Park Railway are popular with families. Train rides are available on both our ground level and raised-track miniature railways. Our outdoor "garden" railway layouts are usually running, along with a OO gauge railway in the clubhouse.

The profits from the sale of railway tickets on our Charity Day are used to support a local charity. In recent years this has been Disability Challengers, who are our neighbours in Stoke Park.

Booking
We are no longer using a booking system; just turn up.

Location
All our events are held at our Stoke Park site. See our Find Us page for details.

Car Parking
At present, we can't offer on-site parking. There is a small public car park right next to our grounds (currently free). If that's full, try along London Road or one of the car parks near the Spectrum, which is a short walk across Stoke Park. We try to reserve a couple of parking spaces on our site for disabled visitors.

Entry
All our events are free to enter unless otherwise stated.

Train Rides
Train tickets are £2 each or three for £5, available from the ticket office in the station building. They are valid for either of our two railways, so you might like to buy enough for both. Children under three are free. You can keep unused tickets for travel on a later date. Payment by contactless card is preferred but we will take cash.

Additional Attractions
Depending on weather and availability of volunteer members, we sometimes have other activities available. These include:Drive-a-Loco - Drive a small electric loco on a short length of track (about 30m) under expert guidance. There and back twice for £2.Have a Go Boats - Radio controlled boats for children of all ages in operation on the pond, £1 for 5 minutes.Model Traction Engines - Trailer rides may be available for an optional small donation.

Refreshments
Hot & cold drinks, biscuits, cakes and (usually) ice cream will be available from the clubhouse. For our December open day we usually add hot snacks (e.g. bacon rolls). Payment by contactless card is preferred, but cash is accepted. We have ample space for picnicking around our site.
